OUR MISSION at SELF is to motivate, empower, and inspire unhoused individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and secure permanent housing through innovative programming and supportive services.

Since our founding over 40 years ago, SELF has led the way in developing effective programming for Philadelphia's homeless. We continue to identify innovative solutions to end homelessness and improve the delivery of services within the city's emergency shelter system.

Theory of change narrative

SELF, Inc. is a comprehensive range of housing services, including shelters, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing, for individuals experiencing homelessness, regardless of identity. We place individuals in shelter spaces that best align with their needs and self-identification, where they receive case management services. Our case management team conducts thorough assessments of each individual and develops personalized service plans based on their specific needs.
